F1's Norwegian International defender Svein Inge Egeland has returned back to Norway after his studies came to an end in England.
However, we hope to link up with Svein again in Summer 2009 when we will try to arrange a mini-tour to his homeland to play a couple of friendlies and experience local hospitality.
Thanks to Svein for his great attitude towards training and matches, he has shown a willingness to get involved and has never let anyone down with no-shows or ridiculous excuses. He will be a big miss. Here's what he had to say about his time with us...
"Little did I know that my four months in York would include anything else than seminars, lectures, library hours, Yorkshire Puddings and an occasional visit to the pub. I had not dared to think that I would get to play football in England, and not in my wildest dreams had I thought that a short email to a ‘what-to-do-in-York’website would result in 15 new friends and a bunch of happy memories. In one way or another this email made its way through to F1Racing via one or two very helpful, but still unknown, middlemen, and although there will forever be a big gap inside me every Sunday morning at 10.30 am, I'm very grateful that I got the chance to play alongside some of York's finest.
"So now, three weeks after my return to Norway, my best memories from those four months is not the togetherness in our class, it's not the overwhelming view of the university from on top of the library, it's not the nice people of York or York's high number of pubs, it's those Thursday evening training sessions and those muddy pitches on Sunday mornings where we so often fought, but so rarely won. So thank you for letting me be a part of F1 Racing, you made a good year even better".
