Report

F1 became the first team to ever take league points from Tadcaster Magnets this afternoon, bringing an end to the visitors 27 game winning streak.

F1 came out of the blocks quickly and were playing some good stuff as they looked to put the visitors under pressure. The tactic was working well as the normally unflappable Tadcaster defence and keeper were having to resort to putting their foot through and clear the ball as far as possible which were easily mopped up by the F1 back line.

A mistake on half way from the Tad centre back saw Rich Procter quickly release Neil Yeowart 1 on 1, the striker chipping the goalkeeper from the edge of the box but had wrongly been adjudged to have been offside. Soon after though, F1 had the ball in the net again. Great link up play between the front 3 saw George Trifan send Procter away down the left flank, his superb first time ball across the box saw Yeowart just get ahead of his marker and keeper to slide the ball into the far corner of the net.

F1 were good value for their lead and looked to be going into the interval a goal up but, on the strke of half time, goalkeeper Tom Goddard was pushed over from a corner swung into the box (probably by one of his own players accidentally) with the ball cannoning off an F1 defender and into the net.

The 2nd half saw F1 stick to their guns and keep playing attacking, passing football as they went in search of a win. Yeowart again having a goal ruled out for offside after being on but then a few minutes later spurned a great chance when the referee allowed play to carry on when he actually was off this time!

Mark Tupman and Danny Sellers were winning the midfield duel against Tadcasters two 6ft 4 centre mids, protecting the home defence and keeping it simple with their passing. In the final ten minutes both teams had glorious opportunities to claim all 3 points, Yeowart with a lob falling just the wrong side of the post and Tadcaster with a penalty in the final minute which was blazed over the bar.

A great match that F1 probably deserved to win due to some good tactics, neat attacking play and 110% endeavour from every man in a blue (and green) shirt. We're disappointed to have not won, especially having the ball in the net a further 2 times but as it turns out, it's a another point gained as Rufforth lost at Barmby Moor.
